1870

The foundation
The brothers Pietro and Paolo Polenghi founded the Polenghi company, the forerunner of the current Polenghi Lombardo.
The first census of the Kingdom of Italy
In the first census of the Kingdom, Naples (678,000 inhab.) Is the most populous Italian city, followed by Milan, Rome and Turin. Florence, the outgoing capital, is only sixth.

1879

A fast expansion
Polenghi opens its branch in London and with its products also reaches overseas, in cities such as Los Angeles, Calcutta and Shanghai.

The Lodi plant
The company changes its name to Polenghi Lombardo and inaugurates the Lodi plant, which will soon become its most famous production center.
La "Tosca" makes debuts in the theater
On January 14 at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome, the "Tosca", the opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini, is performed for the first time.

Welcome milk powder
Polenghi Lombardo starts the production of powdered milk with dietary formulations for early childhood for the first time in Italy.
Publication of "Il fu Mattia Pascal"
The serial publication of the famous "Il fu Mattia Pascal" by Luigi Pirandello begins in the magazine Nuova Antologia.

1925

Growth
Thanks to the continuous development and success of Polenghi Lombardo products, the company can count on 19 factories.
In fashion there is a new protagonist: Fendi.
Edoardo Fendi and Adele Casagrande founded the fashion house Fendi, still today an expression of Italian luxury all over the world.

1930

Optimus is launched on the market
The Optimus brand is introduced for the first time and will soon become a benchmark in the butter sector.
Futurism and photography
Marinetti and Tato publish the "Manifesto of Futurist Photography" where they praise and encourage new forms of expression and research of the image.

1935

The production of condensed milk begins
Condensed milk becomes an important part of Polenghi Lombardo processes. The distribution of “Miranda” powdered milk for children also begins.
Nasce Luciano Pavarotti
On 12 October 1935, Luciano Pavarotti was born, a great Italian tenor who with his voice made the whole world fall in love.

1954

Long-life milk
Polenghi Lombardo revolutionizes the world of milk thanks to the introduction of long-life milk. This is how the “Stella”, “Stelat” and “Stemag” milks are born.
First screening of "L’oro di Napoli"
Directed by Vittorio De Sica and starring Totò and Sophia Loren, "L’oro di Napoli" will soon become a cult of great Italian cinema.

1960

Polenghi continues to innovate
The company confirms itself as the main source of innovation in the sector, introducing the collection of milk in stainless steel tankers instead of traditional cans.
Italy is preparing for the Olympic Games
From 25 August to 11 September, Rome hosts the Games of the XVII Olympiad. That year, Italy came third in the number of medals, winning 36, of which 13 gold.

1969

Polenghi's “Addilat” arrives on the shelves
A milk powder is made for breastfeeding, indicated as a substitute for breast milk from the first days or weeks of life: the "Addilat".
Mina wins the hearts of the Italians
Mina publishes "Il cielo in una stanza" and with almost 2 million sales climbs the Italian charts remaining in first place for 14 weeks.

1983

The Optimus “Mascherpone” arrives
The production of Optimus “Mascherpone” is started: the typical cheese of Lodi which later became famous throughout Italy under the name of mascarpone.
The "Ok the price is right!" era begins
On 21 December, "Ok, the price is right!", the television program hosted by Gigi Sabani, which boasts more than 3400 episodes, is broadcast for the first time.

1986

New products for the childhood line
Polenghi Lombardo begins to produce and distribute “Primigiorni” (for newborns and premature babies) and “Transilat” (continuation) milk.
Nobel Prize to Rita Levi Montalcini

The group Newlat S.p.A.
Polenghi Lombardo joins the Newlat S.p.A group, a leading company in the agri-food sector and ambassador of "Made in Italy" in the world.
The first Italian astronaut
Samantha Cristoforetti is selected by the European Space Agency thus becoming the first Italian astronaut.

2021

The relaunch of Polenghi Lombardo
In 2021 the brand is relaunched with the graphic restyling and a revisited logo, to remain at the forefront and always stay current.
The first Italian wins the time trial cycling world championship
In Imola Filippo Ganna enters the history of cycling by covering the 31.7 kilometer route, pedaling at an average of 53 km / h.
